Snowflake Obsidian
2.2-2.6cm (w) x 1.7-2.0cm (l) x 1.4-1.7cm (d)

Obsidian is a naturally occurring volcanic glass which is produced when lava from a volcano, comes into contact with water and cools rapidly without crystal growth.  This process produces a glassy texture in the resulting rock, with different mineral inclusions producing different varieties and colours of Obsidian.  Snowflake Obsidian is formed from the inclusion of small, white, radially clustered crystals of ‘Cristobalite’ in the black glass to produce a blotchy or snowflake pattern.  The black and white of this stone represents the balance of the polarities and allows one to recognize unnecessary patterns in our lives to change our thoughts for the better.  It allows us to surrender ourselves to a meditative state and is said to be the ‘stone of purity’, bringing balance and purity to the body, mind and spirit.  It can be used in the treatment of disorders of the veins and the skeletal structure.  It can also be used to smooth the skin and clear the eyes.
