Also known as ‘Lingham Stones’, these are found in Onkar Mandhata, India – one of India’s seven holy sites. Villagers gather the rough stones from the river beds and polish them to the classical elliptical proportions. It is believed that these stones symbolize the male and female, as well as the cosmic egg out of which all creation is said to have emerged. Shiva Linghams are considered the ‘stone of the Kundalini’ because it serves to activate the movement of sacred energy that lies within the self. It stimulates the conduction of the energies of the body into a subtle channel which moves along the spine and up into the crown, awakening each of the chakras. As it moves past the chakras, one will begin to realize freedom, fulfillment, purification, and understand their connection to the divine. Physically, this can be used to alleviate back pain, align the spine, relieve symptoms of menopause, and increase fertility.
