CARDS - TAROT (A-K)
WHAT ARE TAROT CARDS?
The Tarot is a set of 78 cards, each with its own unique imagery, symbolism and story.
Of the 78 cards, there are 22 Major Arcana Cards (Eg. The Death card, The Magician card etc) which represent life's karmic and spiritual lessons and 56 Minor Arcana cards (Eg. Ace of Wands, Three of Cups etc) which reflect the trials and tribulations that we experience on a daily basis. Using these cards, people are able to do readings on themselves and for others as guidance to life's questions such as career, relationships, and finances.
The Rider Waite deck is considered the very original deck of Tarot. Other Tarot decks that have followed since still have the standard 78 cards but will have slightly different names and illustrations for the same cards and therefore, can be a little confusing for beginners. If you are starting to learn about the Tarot, it is recommended you start with the Rider Waite deck.
SO WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN TAROT CARDS AND ORACLE CARDS THEN?
The main difference between them is that Tarot decks are ALWAYS a set of 78 cards but Oracle decks don't have a set structure or specific number of cards.
They can both be used to receive guidance so it really just depends on the individual's preferences. Some people like specific themes and illustrations while others are drawn to the specific messages that are on the cards. If you talk to most people, they will usually have at least one of each in their card collection!
