Hatha
Yoga is the most popular branch of Yoga and from which a lot
of the Styles of Yoga originated. It uses physical poses called
Asanas, breathing techniques called Pranayama, and meditation
in order to bring the body in perfect health.
The word Hatha Yoga came from the words 'ha' which means 'sun'
and 'tha' which means 'moon'. It is commonly translated as
the branch of yoga that brings union of the pairs of opposites
referring to the sun as the positive current, and the moon
as the negative current in the system.
Hatha yoga can suit all ages as learning yoga develops self-discipline
and enhances your physical and mental health. Asanas are good
for developing coordination and help to improve concentration
and memory. It can help young people to keep their natural
flexibility for many years. It can help adults feel relaxed
and de-stress from work and family influences. It can help
older people retain mobility and may relieve problems such
as arthritis and poor circulation. While pregnant women can
also feel the benefits of hatha yoga as it promotes good health
in both mother and unborn child. |

A summary of Liz Hunter's experience |
Liz
Hunter is a dedicated student of Hatha yoga and has been practising
it since the 1980's. She completed the teacher training course
of the South Australian Institute of Yoga Teachers Inc. in
1992 and has since taught Hatha yoga for a number of years
and venues including WEA, Box factory, Maslin Beach Community
Hall, Norlunga Aquatic Centre, McLaren Vale Club, Reedbeds
Community Centre, Kishori Centre, and the Ganesh Temple.
During a time of deep personal search, Liz attended a lecture
given by Swami Govindananda on the subject of Bhakti yoga
- the yoga of selfless devotion to God. She found great solace
and answers from this lecture and after three years of study,
it led to the eventual meeting in 1995 with Swami Ji's guru
- Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj in India. Liz was blessed
with the opportunity to live and study with this great spiritual
master for 6 months! |

By Car:
Follow the above map accordingly depending on if you are coming FROM
the city or TO the city.
If you are coming from the city, you have to turn right at Leader Street
because you cannot directly turn right into Railyway Tce North and into
our car park. You have to go around the block.
If you are coming from the south, it's a much easier path as all you
have to do is turn left into Railway Tce North.
By Tram:
Get off at stop "3 Goodwood"
Please note that although it says "3 Goodwood", it doesn't
exactly mean it is the third stop so do not count 3 stops and get off!
By Bus:
Get off at stop 4 on Goodwood Road
The following buses stop on Goodwood Rd.
Bus - 212, 218, and 219 |
