Reiki
(pronounced RAY-KEE) is a non-invasive, hands on, energy healing
system which was founded by a Japanese man named Mikao Usui
during the 20th century. The word is of Japanese origin and
simply means 'universal' (Rei) and ' life force' (Ki) which
is believed to always be flowing through our bodies.
Reiki is a system of healing that heals the body and mind.
Using the methods within the Reiki system, a Reiki practitioner
is able to transfer the Reiki energy (universal healing energy)
via their hands and onto the client, restoring the client's
body, mind and emotions into balance and harmony. |

Where does Reiki come from? |
Dr
Mikao Usui, a Japanese educator in Kyoto, Japan, discovered
and developed Usui Reiki at the end of the 19th century. Usui
did an extensive study over the period of twenty-one years
of the healing phenomena of history’s greatest spiritual leaders
as well as ancient systems that are linked directly to the
human body and the nervous system which activate the universal
life energy for healing.
After undergoing
a metaphysical experience personally, he then began to instruct
others on this form of healing he named Reiki and taught it
until his death in 1893. His tradition and methods were passed
through several grandmasters of Reiki. Today, Reiki takes
many forms, however, The Usui System of Natural Healing is
still the form most widely practiced. Practitioners and Master
Teachers are trained through an initiation process where Masters
pass on their knowledge and expertise to their students.

Everything
in the universe is made up of energy. Each of us is filled
and surrounded by this energy which is called Universal Life
Force Energy. It is essentially the essence of our being and
that which gives life and consciousness. This energy moves
around and through us constantly and is utilised in our bodies
to nourish every cell, organ and gland. This energy also radiates
from our bodies and is called the human energy field (or aura).
If there
is a disruption of our bodies life force energy then we become
more susceptible to discomfort, further illness and disease.
Disruption of the life force energy can occur when it is depleted,
imbalanced or restricted by stress and "holding"
injury, illness etc. When our energy is restored and vital
we are more likely to feel relaxed and our body's own innate
healing abilities are kick started and utilised for healing.
Reiki heals
by flowing through the affected parts of the energy field
and charging them with positive energy. It raises the vibratory
level of the energy field in and around the physical body
where negative energy and feelings are attached. This causes
the disrupted energy to break apart and fall away. In so doing,
Reiki clears, straightens and heals the energy pathways, thus
allowing the life force to flow in a healthy and natural way.

Who can benefit from Reiki? |
Reiki can be given to people, animals, plants... in short,
all living things. It can also be used with inanimate objects,
such as food or medicine, to support the healing/nurturing
properties of the substance, as well as minimizing the effects
of any harmful properties.
People
utilise Reiki for a wide variety of health and wellbeing related
purposes such as e.g.
•stress
reduction, stress related ailments, anxiety
•emotional
balancing, self esteem, mental clarity
•maintaining
general wellness
•making
or handling changes in your life

(single, couples, families), past trauma

problems sleeping

Yes,
Reiki is both safe and effective. Literally millions of people
have benefitted from the healing touch of Reiki. Reiki is
an appropriate treatment for all ages from infancy to the
elderly. Reiki is used in hospitals, nursing homes and hospice
programs. There are many nurses who have trained in Reiki
for the benefit of their patients.
Reiki
can be confidently given to pregnant women and is of great
benefit in reducing stress and lowering blood pressure.
Reiki will not harm the unborn baby but if you are uncomfortable
with giving Reiki to your foetus then the Practitioner can
ensure that only you receive the healing.
Reiki
is also wonderful for children and they are often very open
to receiving the Reiki energy given their lack of social
blockages toward such therapies. A wonderful way to bond
with your children is to learn Reiki yourself and be able
to assist when they are unwell.
PLEASE
NOTE: Reiki is not advised for people with mental disorders,
anyone taking mood-altering medication or people under the
influence of alcohol or recreation drugs.

6.
Do you have to believe in Reiki for it to work? |
No,
the Reiki energy will work regardless of whether you believe
in it or not. However, you may better support your own healing
process by letting the energy in and not resisting it. If
you choose to resist Reiki you will not receive the Reiki
energy. |

7.
What happens during a Reiki session? |
A
typical session is usually 60 minutes long. During the first
session, a discussion will usually take place to allow you
the opportunity to discuss any particular problems or issues
that you are experiencing and what you are hoping to achieve
from the session. It is also time for the Practitioner to
let you know what will happen and what you can expect during
the session.
For the actual session, you will be asked to lay comfortably
on a massage table on your back with your shoes removed. Reiki
can be performed with the client sitting comfortably in a
chair as well. Unlike massage therapy, no articles of clothing
are removed so comfortable clothing is suggested. A session
can either be hands-on, where a Practitioner will apply a
light touch during the session, or hands-off where they will
hold their hands slightly above your body. If you prefer not
to be touched then you can indicate this to the practitioner
before they begin. The practitioner's hands are placed along
energy centres and pathways on the head, neck, chest, abdomen,
legs, feet and back. |

8.
What will I feel during and after a Reiki treatment? |
During
a treatment, the client can feel a number of sensations
such as heat, tingling, pins and needles, coldness, sweating,
laughing, crying, twitching, but sometimes, there is no
noticeable sensation whatsoever. All sensations (if any)
are unique to the each individual because everyone has had
different life experiences. Whether the client feels a sensation
or not, by the end of the Reiki session, he/she will definitely
feel a lot more relaxed, refreshed, and up-lifted, much
like after having a great night's sleep!

|
|
|
|
| |
9.
How often do I need a Reiki session? |
Reiki
is safe and gentle and can be received on a daily basis without
any harmful side effects. If a client's condition is chronic,
then more sessions should be considered to assist with pain
reduction, stress management and emotional discomfort. If
the condition is acute, or the client has a general sense
of well-being, then fewer sessions may be appropriate. Also,
in the healing of unwanted habits and addictions, the client
may need to have several sessions to see significant benefits.
We do recommend that if you
have not received Reiki before that you start with 4 consecutive
treatments (at least once a week is sufficient) to enhance
the healing effects and shifts of energy.

10.
Is Reiki a substitute for traditional medicine? |
No.
Reiki works in conjunction with regular medical or psychological
treatment. If one has a medical or psychological condition,
it is recommended that one see a licensed health care professional
in addition to receiving Reiki treatments. Reiki energy works
in harmony with all other forms of healing, including drugs,
surgery, psychological care or any other method of alternative
care and will improve the results. |

Reiki
is an ancient, hands-on healing technique that involves the
channelling of universal life force energy into the client's
body to facilitate the body's natural healing, relieve stress
and fatigue, release tension and enhance clarity of the mind.
Students will receive attunements which will align them with
the universal energy, empowering them as a Reiki channel for
life. You will also learn about hand positions and how to
give/receive a full body treatment.
Reiki 2 is an optional advanced form of Reiki and allows the
practitioner to increase the potency of the energy flow through
the use of the Reiki symbols. You will receive attunements,
learn the Reiki 2 symbols, and learn how to perform long distance
healing.
Reiki 3 is also an optional level of Reiki which is aimed
to allow students to turn into Reiki Masters so they can teach
Reiki and give attunements to students. At this stage, a Reiki
Masters course is only offered on request. If you are interested,
please call any of the practitioners below and register your
interest.
We currently have a few practitioners who run their Reiki
courses from the Eternal Spirit.
Each practitioner teaches differently, run their courses on
different days and charge different rates.
If you would like to book or have any questions about dates/times/or
prices, please feel free to contact them.
Alternatively, you can click on the "Courses and Workshops"
link on the left hand side.

as tingling, heat, coolness, sweating, laughter, crying,
twitching, sleeping, dreaming, or 'nothing'. Everyone will
have a unique experience each time because we all have different
life experiences. Whatever the reaction and emotions, Reiki
will always leave the client feeling peaceful, refreshed,

Paula is a qualified Reiki Master/Teacher, Isis Seichim
Master/Teacher and practitioner of many energy healing modalities.
Paula first learnt Reiki in 2006 after being diagnosed with
a chronic health condition which could not be helped by
modern medicine. Initially Reiki was for her own healing
but it lead to a passion for learning everything she could
about energy and healing. She now thoroughly enjoys passing
on what she has learnt to others. Paula has been teaching
Reiki since 2008.
Using an intuitive approach Paula draws on her experience
with various energy healing modalities to offer her clients
a unique individual experience. She believes that a person
can only truly heal themselves but she offers an environment
and tools to assist her clients in achieving their healing
goals. Paula’s sessions can consist of one or a combination
of Reiki, Isis Seichim, Pellowah, Crystal healing and Theta
healing. This type of healing can help to shift blocks within
a person’s energy body. This can help heal on physical,
emotional and spiritual levels. Especially helpful if you
are
• At a crossroads in life
• Not sure which way to move forward
• Unable to make decisions
• Ready to shift trauma
